Coast Guard:  Ayungin face-off not an armed attack, a ‘wrong interpretation’ of China’s intent

ON the heels of a clarification by Palace officials that the June 17 confrontation between Chinese and Philippine units in the West Philippine Sea cannot be interpreted as an armed attack by China, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Saturday that the incident involved a misreading or “misunderstanding” of China’s real intentions.
